Washington Pavilion Hosting Ag Day 2023 for Students and Families
Ag Day at the Washington Pavilion will provide a chance for students and families near Sioux Falls to visit with producers in all facets of agriculture. Participants will enjoy interactive booths and hands-on activities to learn more about where food & fiber, including specialty crops, come from.
The free public event is March 4, 2023 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Central.
Be sure to stop by the S.D. Specialty Producers Association (SDSPA) booth to learn from Good Life Farms owner, and SDSPA board member, Michael Gubbles & family. The booth will focus on CSAs (Community Supported Ag) and farm to table. There will be posters and handouts about how CSAs work and they will provide tips for finding a CSA that is most suitable to your needs. Kids will enjoy the vegetable crossword puzzle.
The Gubbles will also share about specialty crop production with area 3rd grade students on Friday at the Washington Pavilion. Schools from the area enjoy a field trip to the Pavilion during this private event.
Ag Day gives children and families a wonderful opportunity to learn about agriculture’s significance – in South Dakota and beyond. Exhibits are exciting and educational and will include other activities such as petting rabbits and piglets, watching chicks hatch, planting flower seeds, learning to crochet and knit, shelling corn, collecting beetles, sitting in a saddle, and participating in interactive farm displays and virtual games. The first 750 attendees can also enjoy a free lunch.
