S.D. Local Foods Coalition ~ March 2023 Update
The SD Local Foods Coalition met on March 3rd, with their next meeting to take place on May 16th from 1-3 pm central. There is also discussion on trying to do in person, possibly by region, this year.
For the 2023 year, leadership team will consist of Eowyn Corral, Rachel Saum, Geb Bastian and Gabbi DeMarce. During the meeting, spotlights and updates were given on DRA, Budding Moon Farm and Vanguard hospitality, all of which are doing exciting work to promote local food systems in South Dakota. In 2023, the leadership team shared that through a regional food systems partnership with DRA and SDSU, they will be doing local foods mapping and working with a food system planner to help establish governing documents and bylaws for the coalition. Conference planning is also underway, with those interested in being involved encouraged to contact katie@dakotarural.org.
