FSA and AMS Listening Session: Beginning Farmer and Rancher Covid-19 Impact
May 6 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
On Thursday, May 6 from 12:30-2:30 pm CST, FSA and AMS will be hosting a virtual listening session with beginning farmers and ranchers to hear how Covid-19 has impacted their farming operations—from market disruptions to supply chain issues.
Beginning farmers and ranchers are invited to share their experiences in navigating USDA’s resources for assistance, discuss how their businesses have been impacted, and share how they are adapting their operations. Remarks and program updates will be given by AMS and Farm Production and Conservation Leadership as well as USDA’s National Beginning Farmer and Rancher Coordinator.
The highlight of the session will be hearing from beginning farmers and ranchers who will share their perspectives and experiences of managing a farming operation and navigating USDA resources during the pandemic. USDA employees and stakeholders want to hear from beginning farmers and insights from this session will inform discussions about outreach strategies, BFR programmatic needs, technical assistance, and accessible program delivery.
The goal is to ensure we hear from all types of beginning farmers regardless of scale or type of operation as well as historically underserved beginning farmers and ranchers. Please assist in recruiting speakers for this event by sharing the registration link.
