S.D. Farm to School Update- April 2025

Anna Tvedt, former SDSU Extension Farm to School Nutrition Field Specialist, helped grow the S.D. Farm to School Network and expand F2S practices across the state.

We’d like to extend our best wishes to Anna Tvedt, long-time leader in this network, as she moves to new opportunities and is no longer with SDSU Extension.

Anna’s Farm to School journey began in 2019 as a graduate student at SDSU, where she focused her thesis on F2S. After earning her degree, she became the SDSU Extension Farm to School Nutrition Field Specialist in 2021, helping grow the SD Farm to School Network and expand F2S practices across the state.

Some of Anna’s fondest memories include visiting schools and producers to witness firsthand how F2S was coming to life in communities across South Dakota. She also deeply enjoyed the connections she made with network members at conferences and events, always feeling inspired by the passion and commitment of the Farm to School community. We thank Anna for her dedication and wish her the best in her future endeavors!

Two new resources were rolled out on the SD Farm to School website. A Buyers Guide and a Growers guide that will assist in helping navigate how to get involved in getting fresh local foods in our S.D. schools.

SD Farm to School hosts quarterly calls to connect S.D. Farm to School stakeholders, and will include a brief presentation on a program that is designed to connect buyers and growers. The Zoom based meeting is May 6th at 3 PM CDT/2:00 MDT. Register by clicking on this Farm to School link.
