SDSPA Promotes Specialty Production at Hot Springs Career Fair

SDSPA hosted an educational booth at the Hot Springs High School Career Fair promoting careers in specialty production agriculture.
One of SDSPA’s missions is to promote all producers (or future producers) to become involved in specialty production. SDSPA was recently invited to host an educational booth at the Hot Springs High School Career Fair promoting careers in production agriculture.
Stationed across the aisle from the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Farm Services Agency (FSA), SDSPA Urban Ag Liaison Malisa Niles spoke to teens about South Dakota diverse agriculture opportunities, emphasizing specialty production. The booth covered materials on market gardens, beekeeping, micro dairies, regenerative agriculture, vineyards, sheep, bison, microgreens, and more.
Over 120 students attended the one day event and learned about all types of careers. SDSPA goal was to plant a seed in the students on the opportunities in specialty production.
