Soil & Nutrient Management Field Day for Transitioning Organic Producers Held at Venner Farm

On Sept. 7, 2024, Denise and Mark Venner, of Venner Farm, hosted a field day focused on soil and nutrient management in transitioning to organic crop production.

Venner Farm grows a variety of organic crops including yellow corn, blue corn, rye, barley, several varieties of wheat, flax, sunflowers, field peas, and garbanzo beans. The tour highlighted the Venner’s high tunnel used for produce and subsurface drip irrigation system. The day concluded with a presentation from Dr. Angela Jackson, SDSPA Organic Ag Transition Advisor on the TOPP Plains program and resources for transitioning producers related to soil nutrients
