SoDak Greens is owned and operated by Kalyn Gutormson and MacKenzie Mattern with the goal to bring fresh greens to more people in eastern South Dakota. Kalyn and MacKenzie have extensive experience in the Agriculture and Horticulture world, both completing master’s degrees in plant science, and working in the seed testing industry. Combined with over 30 years of experience, they produce romaine, a spring salad mix, pak choi, arugula, and various herbs in a hydroponic shipping container. SoDak Greens also produces microgreens including arugula, broccoli, peas, buckwheat, radishes, and sunflower. This shipping container provides greens year-round to people within a 100 mile radius of Brookings. Limited soil, water, and pesticide use allows SoDak Greens to be a unique producer of greens, highlighting sustainability as well as a healthy lifestyle.
