October Listening Session Recap
Members of the S.D. Local Foods Coalition recently received a grant from the USDA to better understand ways to build resilience in the local food system in South Dakota. A listening session held on Oct. 19, 2023 in Rapid City was designed to capture input from community organization participants on this topic. The listening session was facilitated SDSU/SDSU Extension. Participants were guided through a series of activities and questions regarding the local food system in SD:
- Definitions – from various perspectives
- Brainstorming strengths
- Brainstorming challenges and areas for improvement
- Grouping and prioritizing challenges and areas for improvement
- Visualizing an ideal local food system
Seeking Nominations for the 2024 Leadership Team
Coalition leadership is excited to announce they are officially opening up nominations for the 2024 leadership elections. Click here to submit your nomination! You will need to have a short bio available for your nominee. Nominations need to be in by November 30th and elections will run from December 4th-10th to give the new leadership team some time to meet with the current leaders before the next calendar year commences. You are encouraged to nominate yourself and/or others for the following positions: Two (2) Co-Chair Positions, Communications Position, and Membership & Outreach Position.
