SDSPA Represents Producers at AgFest 2023 & Ag Stakeholders Meeting in Pierre

SDSPA participated in AgFest on Feb. 6, 2023. This annual event takes place in Pierre during the legislative session and provides an opportunity to bring together South Dakota’s private, state and federal agriculture entities.

S.D. Specialty Producers Association (SDSPA) participated in AgFest on Feb. 6, 2023. This annual event takes place in Pierre during the legislative session and provides an opportunity to bring together South Dakota’s private, state and federal agriculture entities to share their information with state legislators, lobbyists, leaders in the industry, and local business people.

SDSPA was represented by Peggy Martin, Cedar Creek Gardens owner and SDSPA Treasurer, and Bob Weyrick, SDSPA Board Member. The event was very well attended and provided an opportunity for SDSPA to showcase member’s products and visit with legislators and representatives of other agricultural organizations. 

Samples included homemade herb bread from Venner Farm served with Owl Creek Organics flavored honey; elderberry echinacea ice tea from Sunset Gardens and dill pickle dip on a cracker from Cedar Creek Gardens

This was the 8th year that SDSPA has hosted a booth to feature members’ products and South Dakota’s specialty crop industry.

On Feb. 7th, SDSPA board members were invited to attend the Ag. Stakeholders meeting hosted by Secretary Hunter Roberts, the Lieutenant Governor, and the S.D. Dept. of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The meeting was hosted by Secretary Hunter Roberts, the Lieutenant Governor, and the S.D. Dept. of Agriculture and Natural Resources.  During the meeting SDSPA was able to highlight key issues impacting the organization and participation in discussion with state staff and partners from across the state.
