Brookings Commercial Kitchen Available To Rent
The historic 5 and 10 Ben Franklin in Brookings, South Dakota was recently renovated, launching the Brookings Commercial Kitchen. Local food entrepreneurs and food-based businesses can rent this licensed kitchen space in order to prepare meals or food products. The community is also invited to utilize the kitchen and adjoining event space.
“If you want to do something with food, we can help you. If you need a kitchen for catering, if you want to make a commercially sold food product, if you want to prepare a product for farmers market, if you need a space for personal canning, if you want to get friends together for cooking… you can do it in this space,” owner Dusten Hendrickson said.
The event hall and kitchen spaces are now open for reservations. There are multiple rental options for those interested in using the spaces. They can be rented separately or together, or a membership can be purchased for monthly usage. Nonprofits are encourages to contact for special pricing. Branding support is also available for users.
The kitchen offers a wide range of equipment, including mixers, chillers, pan racks, cooking and baking equipment, freezers and refrigeration, and other items needed for processing and preparation. The kitchen equipment was provided through a grant from the Brookings Economic Development Corporation.
To rent, visit their website calendar and reserve an open timeslot. ServSafe Certification is required for cooking in the kitchen and a food licenses with the S.D.
