2020 Value Added Ag Center Day Recap
Four members of South Dakota Specialty Producers Association (SDSPA) showcased their businesses at Value-Added Ag Day at the State Fair in Huron, S.D. on Sept. 3, 2020 including: Cindy Tolle, Evergreen Ranching and Livestock (Custer) and Sturgis Meats, Laura Klock, Farm Life Creamery (Ethan), Josh Lefers, Prairie Sky Farm Fresh Food (Corsica) and Dillion Ringling, Schadé Vineyard and Winery (Volga).
The S.D. Ag Tourism Working Group also provided a booth and information with representatives Jacey Jessop of the S.D. Department of Tourism and Peggy Schlechter of SDSU Extension. In addition, many other agricultural industry and government organizations provided booths at the event.
Fairgoers strolled through farmers market style booths this year while sampling cheese and aronia juice, purchasing products, observing chicks and getting to know our local producers.
Some of our members provided presentations to highlight different aspects of production across the state. Laura Klock presented ‘Handcrafted Artisan Cheese from Farm to Table’ and Cindy Tolle discussed ‘Marketing your Beef Direct from your Ranch.’
This event is hosted by the S.D. Value Added Ag. Center in Pierre, S.D. SDSPA always looks forward to this annual event to showcase local vendors and their products. We encourage all our members to participate in events such as this, which provide opportunities to network, showcase your products, and learn new marketing strategies.
